There are so many different ways to get involved at the golf course. You can get a golf membership. You can come play a single round. You can join a league. You can even host a tournament. But what are all these different options and which one is right for you?
What is a Golf Membership?
A golf membership is when you pay an upfront fee to have access to the golf course for the whole season. With a membership, you can book a tee time at any time that your membership allows. There are typically different kinds of memberships to choose from.
You might choose a membership based on the times that you know you can play – such as weekdays only or only in the evenings because you have to play around a work schedule.
You might choose a membership based on age. For example, there are often memberships specifically for seniors or young golfers under the age of 18.
Golf carts are typically excluded from a membership fee and are available as an add-on purchase if they are something you would like to have.
At Foxbridge Golf Club, our most popular membership is our Clubhouse membership, which gives you unlimited weekday play and play after noon Fridays through Sunday.
Other options are available:
- Couples Membership
- Junior Golfer Membership
- Twilight Membership
- Seniors & Senior Couples Weekday Membership (which include a cart)
The best time to join as a member is in the fall of the year before you intend to play because you can usually get bonus play time in the current season and often, the prices haven’t changed for the new season yet.
The next best time to join as a member is in the spring right before the golf season kicks off so that you can get the most playing time possible.
What is a Golf League?
A league is a group of golfers who play weekly throughout the entire golf season at a preset time on the course. It’s a friendly competition with mostly the same group of people every week that can end up with prizes and fun.
How leagues are run depends on the golf course, but typically tee-times are blocked off on specific days and times for your group. You pay to join the league and then, from there – you might or might not have to pay a weekly green fees. Sometimes, you can even walk-on to a league day if you know that you can’t commit to a full season, but would still like to golf with some friends. This varies by course.
At Foxbridge Golf Club, we have a few leagues – and the league fees include all the greens fees (but carts or pull-carts are separate.). Our leagues run from the first week of May until the end of September, and usually wrap things up with fun group tournament.
You can find leagues for:
- Women
- Men
- Senior Men
- And Juniors
The best time to join a league is at the beginning of the golf season so that you can take full advantage of the year.
What is a Golf Tournament?
A golf tournament is a one-time event that brings together a group of people to play a round of golf. Tournaments are a special event and are scheduled ahead of time with much planning.
These can be for fun – like a family game or a challenge between the course members and the staff. Tournaments can also be more professional too – such as a charity fundraiser or a corporate event.
Often tournaments are highly organized and involve prizes, challenges like “closest to the green” and “longest drive”, and a personalized group meal at the restaurant afterwards. There might even be a trophy involved.
At Foxbridge Golf Club, we offer golf tournament packages to personalize the experience for groups ranging from 20 to 144 players – whether they are a group of friends or a large-scale business. These need to be booked and planned well in advance to make sure we have the right time frame you need and all the extras included.
The best time to book a tournament is at least a few weeks before you intend to play. If your tournament is going to involve a lot of golfers or extras that need to be organized, you should add more time to your request.

Which Option is Right for You?
The answer to this question depends on what your goals are.
If you are looking to come and play golf whenever it fits into your schedule throughout the golf season, then you will want to choose a golf membership.
If you want to have golf pre-scheduled each week and play with some familiar faces each week, then a league might be best for you.
If you want to have a one-time challenge with co-workers or family, then a tournament could be an option.
Whichever option you decide, we look forward to seeing you at Foxbridge Golf Club.
